AB sunk its tentacles into yet another property designed to do absolutely NOTHING but gain them cred that they cannot earn for themselves and which they now use to weaken and erode the solidarity and spirit of the American Indie Brewing community.
The food in most American brewery taprooms, alehouses, pubs, and beer halls is driving me crazy and I suspect, from time to time, it’s done the same to you.
AB has been at this for 120 years, folks. They’re betting that younger American beer fans will be just as oblivious a species of douchebag as their forebears.
These acquisitions are all about Influence. Leverage. Insinuating themselves into a culture which is, at least in LARGE part, a reaction to and rejection of everything AB has stood for.
Lists are NOTHING but our peculiar American mania for putting two things into a small closet and seeing who’s still breathing when we open the door.
A 35K town with five bad breweries in it belongs on the list of “Waste of Gas and Time”, not in “Hidden Gems”.
From this day forth, what we now call “craft brewing” and “craft beer” will be called “INDIE Beer”, in The Pour Fool.
